Letter From Chief & Council

Chief Troy Peters,

Greetings to the esteemed members of the Yale First Nation community, it is with a profound sense of gratitude and responsibility that I introduce myself as your newly appointed Chief. My name is Troy Terrance Peters, and I am deeply honored to serve you all.

My roots run deep within our community, as my lineage traces back to the heart of Yale First Nation. My mother, Margret Peters, my grandmother, Emily Peters, and my grandfather, Alex Peters, have all been pillars of our community, instilling in me a deep appreciation for our heritage.

Throughout my life, I have embraced the values of hard work and an unwavering commitment to our Aboriginal traditions, particularly the cherished practices of hunting and fishing. I believe that these traditions are not only part of our history but also a vital component of our future.

As your Chief, my primary goal is to work tirelessly for our community, ensuring that the voices and opinions of each member are not only heard but valued. Family is at the core of our identity, and I bring a profound understanding of its importance, as I am blessed with a Wife of 33 Years and five children and the joy of being a grandparent to one cherished grandchild.

I am deeply humbled and honored to serve our Nation, and I am committed to upholding our traditions, preserving our heritage, and advancing the well-being of our people. Together, we will forge a path toward a brighter and more prosperous future for Yale First Nation. Thank you for entrusting me with this privilege.

My name is Janita Peters. My mother is Dolores Eashappie from Carry the Kettle (Saskatchewan) and my father is Troy Peters from Yale First Nation (Yale BC). I am honored the nation has selected me to serve my people, as Elected Council. My educational background is in Social Work. I have had the opportunity to serve my nation in the community social work department of YFN in my past position for 3 years. I am excited for our future and to move forward in a good way. I look forward to bringing more culture into our communities.

Council Judith Moreno

First of all, I would love to congratulate again on new Chief & Council, Troy Peters for Chief and Janita Peters for council. For those who do not know me, my name is Judith Moreno.

I come from a family of 5 with David & Angela Moreno, sibling Juan & Mercedes Moreno.

Now, I have a family of my own with Warren, our children Mateo, Taylor & Talia Marino.
A hockey family.

I have gained more education with getting certificates in Cosmetology, Social Services Worker Professional, Early Childhood Education Assistant. Building up  towards becoming child and youth care. I love learning new knowledge. Once again, thank you to those who had the opportunity to vote.
